Tenderness of the Human Heart
I've been cocooning for the last week.
Watching movies, writing my book, sleeping a lot, and I saw three people socially, one was my husband, and one was on a dinner date. That is very little contact for Mira, the extrovert.
I’ve been contemplating and feeling into my last month. A ceremony for three nights and then Path of Love for nine days. Wow! What a blast of internal inquiry and outward service of love.
I'm blown away by the tenderness of the human heart.
The ceremony was exquisite and subtle.
I held the heart of pain, some of my husband’s, some of my friend’s, and some of mine. The pain that sits in our chest holding betrayal, mistrust, sadness, as well as joy, gratitude, and love.
While holding this gigantic heart in both hands, I experienced all of human suffering in my own body and then the tenderness of empathy, connection, and understanding.
These feelings completely encompassed me and created a profound experience. The visceral experience reminded me that we each live in human flesh, trying to live a better life.
Falling, rising, trying to understand, or completely sleepwalking. Without knowing, we dissociate from trauma, not wanting to be here and trying to make sense of it all.
Our parents and their parents and their parents hold the pain as well, and so it goes, passing the pain on to the next generation and the next until one of us understands, clears, and/or even just stops the confusion altogether.
And then… there is awakening, going through the pain, the suffering, and the searching to find relief, joy, exuberance. Wanting to drop the heavy load and live a lighter, happier existence on the earth. We find out that we are just those pure little babies, coming in with light-filled eyes until we are told the message that: you are not o.k., you are not perfect, you are not worthy, you are not love. But sometimes a few of us break through that, no longer believe it, and are lucky to live a love- and light-filled life.
All in one night, that heart taught me with its pounding sound and vibrating energy, we are all in this together. We are no different, not better or worse than, and not separate.
The second night, I was graced with being untied from my generational lineage. Directly in the back of my heart, pop was the sound when the Iquaro (song) separated me from the burden of my ancestors. I thought it would be a loud bang, or a crying fit, or some kind of experiential drama, but of course the tie was gently untied with a song and a shaman, full of heart, sitting in front of me. Tears ran down my cheeks, and the relief of the pressure of holding all those painful generations on my back was gone. I had been working a long time for that precise moment, and it was so simple and pure.
I am in such gratitude.
And then off to the Path of Love, where 28 people stood in their pain, poured their hearts out to be happy and free of the burden they carried. It amazes me that we humans can be so brave. We are so desiring happiness and freedom from our past, to have a better present and future. We want it so bad that we spend an entire week (nothing in comparison to an entire life) and spend thousands of dollars (nothing compared to what we make in a life time) to unburden our psyche so that we can move forward and drop the ideas of unworthiness, betrayal, rage, and wandering in our lives without purpose.
These people come and stand before me and others praying for a better life of fulfillment and peace. And they obtain it right in front of my inspired eyes. It blows my mind every six months of attending this retreat.
Divine beings living in human flesh, working so hard to remember that they are divine again.
With such gratitude to be here on this planet and to do what I do. Love to you all. Mira
