From Gratitude to Freak Out to Gratitude
Just last month, I wrote how things were so smooth, so much gratitude in my life with ease, abundance, and love, and then, of course, I was challenged right after I wrote that…
I should have knocked on wood.
I was scammed $8400 with a single click of a button to say “yes.” I was receiving texts that actually said “yes” to take out this money from my account (long story).
Of course, I did everything I could to stop the charges with the bank and more. But in reality, nothing was more important than looking inward and feeling what was really happening to me.
I felt betrayed as if I was a little girl again. Then, when I didn’t get care and attention from the bank, I felt abandonment kick in.
I was reliving the past, believing that the fraud was my abuse as a child.
For 10 days, I was in shock, fear, and distress. My nervous system jacked up, and my body could not settle.
What was troubling me was not the money in the present, but the trauma from the past.
I kept reaching out to the bank, and the more they ignored me, the more abandoned I felt.
After many interactions, the adult Mira took over and threatened them to see me in person. Steve and I went to the bank and met with the five top people (lawyers, head of the fraud department, the legal team, etc.), and I pleaded my case and shared how poorly they treated me.
I handled it with strength, care, and vulnerability (all the while Steve had his hand on my thigh, squeezing it just when I would get too emotional).
They listened, they heard me, and got it.
I was seen, and my nervous system began to regulate and come back to normalcy.
Then I did a Somatic session, which helped me remember the term “Coupling.” I had learned this 10 years ago in my Somatic training, but I had completely forgotten the lesson.
I had to live it again to remember that term.
Jenn (the therapist) helped me regulate even more and “Uncouple” the entire story.
Basically, the fraudster was my childhood abuser and the bank was my parents who never heard me.
After I experienced this, I looked back at what I had learned. I didn't go into personal beat-up; I should’ve known, and I should’ve seen what was happening and understood it.
When we are in it, we are in it, and asking for help is imperative.
I was glad I could watch for the entire ten days and know that this wasn't about the money, but about my triggered response from the past.
I knew that my little girl inside of me needed my support.
She needed to be heard.
She needed to take deep breaths.
She needed to come into the present moment.
And she needed my adult self to stand up and have her back.
Everything was obviously a lesson (a hard one at that), but I needed to understand that even as an aware person, a conscious woman who is always watching for the lessons, I can get triggered and not be able to come back without help.
It was a profoundly hard financial lesson, but a more profound life lesson.
Do your best not to beat yourself up.
Our triggers are not over until they are over.
Our lessons come when we are open to clearing trauma. And life goes on even when it’s an expensive one.
By the way, we got $4200 back. We met with five top Bank officials who listened intently and took action to change things to protect people like me.
I felt heard, seen, and more empowered than before.
Don't answer a call from your bank just because it looks like the bank, has the bank's design, and sounds like the bank. These scammers have all the information they need, and one button, saying yes, gave them permission through my Fraud department to take out $8400.
Don’t give up…
Everything that is presented to us is a lesson for our own spiritual growth.
